Where We Stand In WandaVision

We’re through 4 episodes in Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, and now as we hit the meat and potatoes of what this series is supposed to be, lets check out where we stand. After the first three episodes, the internet (myself included) was ablaze with countless theories. What did the beekeeper suit mean? Who’s Herbert? The references to the Devil, Agnes, and so much more. In Episode 4 we not only learned a few things regarding those issues, but we also got to see the Blip firsthand in a way that was chaotic and horrifying through the eyes of Monica Rambeau. Now that the decks are clear and we are starting to know where we stand with Wanda Maximoff being completely in control of what she’s doing, lets follow along S.W.O.R.D.’s board and create our own written one to figure out what we have to look forward to in the weeks to come.

What We Know, Might Know, Could Know:

We know based on Jimmy Woo’s board that all of the people identified besides Agnes and Dottie are real life people with ID’s. One thing about that I’m still curious about is the nature of Herbert’s relationship with Agnes as in episode 3 Vision caught them talking and Herbert seemed to have a decent idea of what was happening in WestView.

We know that Monica’s mother Maria unfortunately passed away 2 years after the Snap in which her cancer returned after being in remission for a time. I can’t emphasize enough how well Teyonah Parris captured the confusion and sadness of a moment like that one. In true dealing with trauma nature, Monica goes right back to work and deals directly with S.W.O.R.D. acting director Tyler Hayward. Tyler (Who I can’t trust to save my life, and the epitome of white middle management who takes advantage to get the job) tells Monica that things have changed since she’s been gone. The agency has switched priorities from space threats to A.I., nanotechnology (Hello Stark Tech), and robotics. This felt like a nod to the upcoming series Armor Wars in which we can surmise that something bad happens to all of Tony Stark’s tech. Nonetheless Tyler talks about missing astronauts (Fantastic Four reference?) and the sudden shift in what Maria Rambeau’s original philosophy was in being the founder of S.W.O.R.D.

Notice when Monica and Tyler walk into his office that the plaques on the wall are in a hexagonal shape.

Later in the episode when Jimmy Woo has his board he’s asking about the Hexagon shapes. It looks like we have plenty more to ask Tyler about the nature of his hexagon shapes.

CMBR (Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation)

CMBR is what allows Wanda to broadcast what she’s doing to television as Darcy surmises. This radiation currently is contained to the WestView town, but what happens when it gets outside? I believe that at some point when Wanda completely loses it there’s going to be an explosion of this stuff which may be the creation of something potentially like the Inhumans. (Note New Jersey resident Kamala Khan AKA Ms. Marvel)

We find out and can ask the question that after Monica gets expelled from WestView by Wanda that A)Is this how Monica got her powers? B)Wanda might be completely under control of the present reality that’s happening. I still think there’s something happening that’s pulling her strings (sorry for mentioning Ultron Wanda)and all these prior devil references still have me thinking it’s Mephisto or Nightmare that have pushed Wanda to this degree.

Vision is Dead!

This legitimately creeped me out as I’m sure was the intention.

Is Wanda conjuring Vision’s spirit as she referenced in her conversation with Hawkeye at the end of Avengers Endgame? Did she make a deal with said devil? I’m oh so very curious at what the answer is. Considering the fact that Vision in this world knows something is wrong and has been blocked in many ways from figuring it out makes what comes next so interesting. The trailer for episodes 5 and 6 show him trying to escape WestView which is tantalizing. Also, Wanda been kissing a dead robot? This takes a sex toy to levels I didn’t know were possible.

After writing all this I realize as much as we know and have started to get plot wise, we still have no idea what’s actually happening. The best is yet to come as WandaVision has been dedicated to it’s story of Wanda dealing with her trauma of losing her brother and lover by turning to a world of her own creation which as far fetched as it seems is the escapism we’ve all dreamed about when the bad things happen. I look forward to what comes next.
